9 June 2010. A lovely example of my Lotus Bracelet from Karen Kenny. I love the colours you've used Karen. Two photo’s from Karen Smith. First: a modified Pagan Collar. I love the way Karen has mixed her colours here. She says its been much admired and has now been given to a friend. And a modification of an early Christmas Bauble pattern published in Bead 7 but not available on here to download (let me know if you want it added). Karen says she gave copies of this as Christmas Gifts. I made the amazing tetrahedron at a class with Laura McCabe in September 2009 and added the herringbone tube later: tightening the buttonhole knot was terrifying: I expected the beading thread to break and tiny 15's to ping everywhere! "Poppers", a beaded version of a partypopper (all the variously stitched strands pack inside so that the cap closes) was my entry in the 2009 Beadworkers Guild Challenge " Let's Celebrate".
The fan, above, was my entry in the 2008 Beadworkers Guild Challenge "Eastern Connections". It appears in the BWG 10th Anniversary Celebration book .
This lovely bead (below) by Crystal Garden Beads inspired me to make this necklace. February 2008
This gorgeous bead, by Vicki Honeywill (http://www.pureshorelampwork.co.uk/) inspired me to frame it in RAW and herringbone. I’ve called the bracelet “Planetary”. It was made in February 2008 and featured in the BWG 2008 “Tempting Turquoise” exhibition.
This lovely bead, by PixieWillow (http://www.pixiewillowdesigns.com/) inspired me to make it into a bracelet with Zulu Flowerette chain as described by Diane Fitzgerald in her wonderful book on Zulu Beading. Made in February 2008, it featured in the BWG 2008 “Tempting Turquoise” exhibition.
A friend gave me this lovely bead by Ray Skene – and this is what I’ve done with it. January 2008
I was asked to create a necklace and earring set with a sea theme to display sea sculpted pottery shards beachcombed by an adored granddaughter . Made in 2006, using the pattern published in Sandra Wallace's book.
I made this beaded Kumi Himo braid to set off the Murano pendant – I’m keeping it!
Another beaded Kumi Himo braid! This one was made for a friend’s birthday using delightful RUNE and CAVE beads handmade by Lesley Mcfarland; I used beads to reflect the colours of the enameled lampworked beads. My friend, Eileen, is fascinated by archeology and cave painting.
